READING IS SNOW MUCH FUN: Winter 2012

REGISTRATION
Resident registration begins Saturday, January 7, 2012, in person at the library.  All resident children must have a valid library card to present upon registration.  (Residents are from Alsip, Merrionette Park, and Garden Homes.) Residents can register by phone for the winter/spring session.

Non-resident open registration begins Saturday, January 14, in person at the library.  There will be a fee for each non-resident child for each program.

Preschool Programs
Registration is required.  Programs run January 23 through March 3. Registration is required for the following programs. Non-resident fee is $6 per child.

Mother Goose Time
Birth-23 months with caregiver
Mondays from 10-10:30 am (No program Feb 20.)
This program is designed for babies as an introduction to the library.
Stories, music, nursery rhymes, and unstructured play will be shared by all.

Baby and Toddler Music Class
6-35 months with caregiver
Fridays from 11-11:30 am
We'll sing a storybook, play games, and enjoy a variety of small instruments while the instructor sings and plays guitar.

Toddler Time

Ages 2-4 years with caregiver
Tuesdays 10-10:30 am
Come in from the cold, and have some fun with books, music and sensorimotor activities.

Toddler Art
Ages 2-4 years with caregiver
Thursdays from 10-10:30 am
Come join us with your little one for a story, songs, and a process-oriented art project too! Please come dressed to get a little messy; plastic smocks will be provided.

Music Medley
Ages 3-5 years with caregivers
Wednesdays from 10-10:30 am
Children will enjoy making their own musical instruments, and then will explore pre-reading skills through the use of music.

AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS
Programs run January 23 through March 3.
Registration is required for the following programs. Non-resident fee is $6 per child.

Road Trip USA
Kindergarten and up
Mondays OR Wednesdays from 4-4:30 pm
Enjoy traveling and sampling foods from different places? Then pack your bags, board the bus, and join us as we continue our journey across the USA! K+ welcome, but best for K - 5th grade.
(Please note that this program is not recommended for children with food allergies.)

Zoo Keeper's Club
4 years - 2nd graders
Tuesdays from 4-4:30 pm OR Thursdays from 6:30-7 pm
Lions, tigers and bears, "Oh My!" Ever wonder where the animals at the zoo come from? Join us as we discover the uniqueness of different animals.

BINGO
Independent Kindergarten and up
Saturdays, February 4 & 18, and March 3 from 10-10:45 am
Come to the library and play BINGO! Non-resident fee is $3.
K+ welcome, but best for K-5th grade.

Bookalicious
Grades 3 and up
Thursdays from 4-4:30 pm
A delicious time of fun at the library; read great children's books in a fun and informal setting. Join the fun -- snacking with your favorite books.(Please note that this program is not recommended for children with food allergies.)

Family Fun Night
All ages with caregiver
Mondays from 7-7:30 pm
Join us as we present a different activity, theme, or event each week for you and your children to do together as a family. Registration required. Sign up for one or all. Non-resident fee is $1 per week.

January 23-- Snowflake Craft
January 30--BINGO
February 6 -- Winter Placemat
February 13 -- Valentine's Day Craft
February 27 -- Game Night

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Ceramics Club
Grades 2 and up
Saturdays from 3-4 pm
Children will paint a ceramic figurine that they will be able to take home that day. There is a limit of 6 children. Non-resident fee is $6 per child.

Reading is Snow Much Fun Winter Reading Program
Join our special six week reading prize program. Win great prizes! Stop in for details. Open to all children birth-10th grade. Non-resident fee is $6 per child.

PROGRAMS FOR 6TH-12TH GRADERS

Youth Volunteers
Youth going into 6th grade through 12th grade may volunteer during the winter in the library. Volunteers may be asked to clean books, cut out crafts, assist children with craft projects, or help out at the desk.
Patrons should call to arrange volunteering for the following times:
Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30 pm
Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 pm
Saturdays, 10:30-12 pm
